Royal Mint stopped making 20p pieces as millions raided piggy banks for old £1 coins

For the whole of 2017, the Royal Mint did not produce a single 20p or £2 piece as millions of UK households were raiding piggy banks for the old, round £1 coins before shops stopped accepting them.
